There are Many method to help lower Pesticides
Short on Time
Using running water to clean fruit, this will help to reduce pesticide 9 out of 12 times when being tested on by testers. A simple rubbing with a cloth will help to lower the amount of pesticide even more.
How to reduce Pesticides
Other methods. Wash vegetable and fruit for 30 secs. To decrease the number of pesticides on fruit and vegetable, use a clean brush to scrub the outside layer. Remove the first layer of vegetable with a more leafy layer which has a higher amount of pesticide. You might focus on using Canadian food which has a lower amount of pesticides. Or, maybe go organic.
Vinegar Soak
A good solution to help clean fruit or vegetable with pesticides. What you can do. Mix a bottle with 10 percent vinegar and 90% water. Then, soak the produce. Mix well. Move the fruit or vegetable around, so it will mix well.
Note: Be careful with produce with thin skin. Will easily damage with vinegar.
Baking Soda
Base on a study, if the fruit is sitting in a baking soda solution. The amount of time in the solutions is more effective than in a bleach solution. With this experiment, allow the fruit to soak for 12-15minutes in the solution. This will completely remove the pesticide. It is an effective way.
A Simple Cleaning Recipe to Remove Pesticide
Ingredient:
1 tsp baking soda
2 cup water
Instructions:
- In a bowl, mix the baking soda and water together.
- Add the fruits.
- Let the fruit sit in for 15 minutes.
- Remove the fruit after 15minutes.
Alternative Methods
You can peel the skin from the fruit where most of the pesticide sits on. This does reduce the fiber from your diet. The baking soda mixture will not work for berries. The best option for berries might be to consider buying organic. Or, focus on how to remove pesticide from fruit by following the above recipe to soak the fruit in baking soda solution.
